FAQ

What is chiropractic?

Chiropractic is a branch of the healing arts based upon the understanding that good health depends, in part, upon a normally functioning nervous system (especially the spine, and the nerves extending from the spine to all parts of the body). “Chiropractic” comes from the Greek word chiropraktikos, meaning “effective practice by hand.” Chiropractic stresses the idea that the cause of many disease processes begins with the body’s inability to accurately perceive and adapt to its environment. It looks to address this not by controlling symptom effects but by locating and adjusting the structural distortions of the body which are interfering with nervous system function and therefore bodily functions.

What conditions benefit from chiropractic care?

Although chiropractic doesn’t treat symptoms of disease, studies have found it to be effective in a variety of conditions, such as migraine headaches, neck and shoulder pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, asthma, high blood pressure, fibromyalgia, infantile colic and many more.

Does Tonal Chiropractic hurt?

No, in fact most people enjoy the experience. The adjustment itself takes only seconds.

Is Tonal Chiropractic safe?

Yes. Tonal Chiropractic adjustments are extremely safe. The risk factor is estimated to be less than one million to one.

What kind of education and training do doctors of chiropractic have?

Chiropractors receive an education that emphasizes neuromuscular function, analysis and care. Preparation for the practice of chiropractic is concentrated on three areas of learning; basic training in the biological and health sciences (anatomy, physiology, histology, biochemistry, clinical and radiological diagnosis); specialized training in the chiropractic discipline, philosophy, practice, analysis and applications; and extensive clinical training. This education requires over 4 academic years, post college, in one of 18 chiropractic colleges in North America.

Have any studies been published showing chiropractic’s effectiveness?

Many studies have documented the effectiveness of chiropractic. More recent studies have shown chiropractic to be effective in infantile colic, migraine headaches and high blood pressure.

What can I expect on my first visit?

Dr. Talsky will greet you personally giving you some brief introductory information along with information for you to provide us. He will then discuss your reasons for coming for care and answer your questions. If you feel comfortable he will proceed with a spinal examination and initiate your care with your tonal chiropractic spinal adjustments and discuss future care.

What other services do you offer besides chiropractic?

We have learned that true healing is self healing and rather than trying to control it, we just try to remove or reduce interference. In addition to reducing nerve interference with the spinal adjusting we also seek to help you reduce chemical interference with a natural detoxification program and guide you in reducing environmental interferences and mental, emotional interferences.
